CLIMATE
IN CAIRNS

in the Wet Tropics, the region’s climate
is hot and humid during summer months with mild,
dry winters. The rainy season generally occurs during
summer between January and March. The average rainfall
is 1992mm on an average of 154 days of the year.

Flecker Botanical Gardens
The Botanic Gardens in Edge Hill is open to the public
and is free. Here you will find a diverse range of plants
and flora unique to this part of the world.
The Esplanade
Is peaceful during the day
with visitors catching the early morning rays and watching
the unique birdlife feeding along the mudflats. Palm trees
line the length of the Esplanade highlighting the Tropical
feel of this warm city.
Crystal Cascades
A beautiful swimming hole
for those long hot summers. Crystal Cascades is a hidden
secret to most visitors and
tourists only find there way there after being told by
locals.
Port Douglas
A beautiful town just north
of Cairns, filled with exclusive holiday resorts, golf
course, marina and a selection of shopping boutiques. It
is a great place from which to explore the northern Rainforests
of Cape Tribulation and the Daintree, as well as for trips
out to the Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef
Is a true wonder of
the world and is an amazing place to visit. You really
can't imagine its beauty until you actually see it for
yourself. There are plenty of places from where you can
explore the Great Barrier Reef, and whether you travel
to the outer reef or visit some of the other reefs and
Islands nearer the coast you are sure to be satisfied.
Cape York Peninsula
Is also called the Tip
and if you enjoy adventure, is well worth travelling through.
There are plenty of places to stop along your journey through
the Cape York Peninsula and several islands off of the
far northern tip.
Kuranda
Is a pretty town set amongst the glorious mountains of
the Atherton Tablelands, and famous for its wonderful
markets. There is spectacular rainforest surrounding
the town, with various walking tracks.
Cape Tribulation
A tropical
paradise, with glorious beaches
lining its coastline, backed by
spectacular rainforest. If relaxing
on a beach doesn't sound like

beautiful Cape Tribulation.
Fitzroy Island
Is a continental island which
features fabulous rainforests and nearby coral reefs. It
is situated just off of the coast of Cairns, in Far North
Queensland, making it a pleasant day trip and an incredibly
relaxing longer stay.
Green Island
Is a tiny coral cay lying about
30km from Cairns, and only 12 hectares in area. The island
features spectacular rainforest, as well as beautiful coral
beaches. It also lies upon 710 hectares of reef, making
it a fantastic diving spot.
