Valid from 01 April 2017 - 31 March 2018
Flex Rates give you the very best available price for the motorhome
you want to rent. If you book early and there are plenty of motorhomes
available, you will pay a much lower price. If you book closer to departure
date or book for a high demand period then the rate will be higher.
However, once booked, should you need to amend the dates, the prevailing
rates will apply. We get advised of new flex rates each week. Therefore
each quote only valid until the end of each week.

Rates are
calculated per calendar day.
The flex rate for the entire duration of the rental is
determined by the
date of pick-up, location and date of booking. The daily
rate will not
change within one booking.
Amendments prior to the vehicle collection date will be
re-calculated
at the flex rate applicable on the date of amendment. This
applies to
changing the vehicle type, reducing the number of rental
days,
changing pick-up dates and/or changing the pick-up or drop-off
location. Where the number of rental days is being extended
prior to
pick-up (days are being added on at the end of the rental
with no
change to the original pick up date), or the bonus pack
is being added
to or removed from the booking, the original flex rate,
which applied
at the time of the original booking, will apply.

Rental Duration:
- Minimum and maximum rental periods apply and are subject to change.
- Late pick-up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the customer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
- Mighty pick up is a self-service process and requires the customer to have completed Self Check-In online or in the branch. If additional service is
required from a Mighty staff member, a fee of $50 may apply.
- If a customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Mighty (call 0800 422 267). The rental
extension is subject to vehicle availability. The cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the
rental extension. The rate charged may not reflect the original rate booked. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a daily fee of NZD $150 in
addition to the daily rate.
Delivery and Return:
The hirer acknowledges having received
the Vehicle in a clean condition, with a full fuel
tank and a full bottle of gas (if applicable).
Mighty reserves the right to charge the Customer
a cleaning fee in the amount of NZD $250 if the Vehicle
is not returned in a clean condition (at Mighty's sole
discretion acting reasonably). This includes smoking
related cleaning, as smoking is not permitted at any
time in the Vehicle or animal related cleaning as
animals are not permitted in the Vehicle (with the
exception of registered guide dogs).
The toilet and wastewater tank (if applicable)
must be emptied prior to the return of the Vehicle, or
an additional NZD $125 soiling fee will be charged to the
Customer.

Branch Hours:
All Vehicles must be collected from, and returned
to, a Mighty branch. Mighty Branches are open 7 days
per week, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Customers must allow
adequate time to complete the required paperwork
when collecting or returning your Vehicle. Branches
are closed Christmas Day (25 December).
NZD $50 surcharge will apply to all rentals picked up
and/or dropped off on the following National public
holidays;
- Good Friday (14 April 2017)
- Easter Monday (17 April 2017)
- ANZAC Day (25th April 2017)
- Queen's Birthday (5th June 2017)
- Labour Day (23rd October 2017)
- Boxing Day (26th December 2017)
- New Year's Day (1st January 2018)
- Day after New Year's Day (2nd January 2018)
- Waitangi Day (6th February 2018)
Note:
A Public Holiday Surcharge will apply to all rentals picking up and/or dropping off on national public holidays listed above.
The one-way fee if applicable is charged per hire. Minimum one-way rental duration may apply.
* Christchurch pick up fee is subject to change
Change of Drop-Off Destination:
If the hirer wishes to change the drop-off
destination, they must first obtain authorisation from
Mighty. Subject to the change
being approved, an additional charge of up to NZD $750 may apply, which will be notified to you at time of
approval and is required to be paid immediately via
credit card. The fee may apply in all cases irrespective
of the reason for location change.
Pick-Up and Drop Off Fees:
Mighty Pick Up is a self-service process and
requires the hirer to have completed Self CheckIn online or in the branch. If additional service is
required from a Mighty staff member, a fee of NZ $50 may apply.
The hirer is required to pick up at the time
selected when the booking is confirmed. If the
hirer wishes to change this time prior to the day of
travel, they must obtain authorisation from the Mighty. Mighty allows a grace period of

Pick up and drop off outside of these times may cause
a delay and impact the time spent at the branch.
The hirer is required to drop off at the time
stated on the Rental Agreement. If the hirer
wishes to change this time prior to the day of drop off,
they must obtain authorisation from the Mighty. Mighty allows a grace period of 59
minutes. Please specify accurate pick up and drop off
times. Pick up and drop off outside of these times may
cause a delay and impact the time spent at the branch.
If the hirer wishes to drop off the Vehicle
after business hours, they must first get approval
from Mighty. Failure to obtain
authorisation for a drop off outside business hours will
result in an additional daily fee of NZD $150 in addition to
the daily rate being charged.
If the late drop-off is approved, a fee of NZD $150 is
applicable and the Customer will be required to pay
an extra day's Liability Reduction Option charge (if
applicable) as they will be held responsible for the
Vehicle up until the time that it is checked in by a
Mighty staff member the following day. This late dropoff
fee is required to be paid via the Customer's credit
card on approval of the late drop-off.
Additional Extras:
- Camping Table - $25.00 per rental
- Camping Chair - $18.00 each per rental
- Extra Driver Fee - $10.00 per driver per day
- Child Seat (recomended for children age 0-3 years) - $36.00 per hire
- Booster Seat (recomended for children age 4-7 years) - $36.00 per hire
- Snow Chain - $36.00 per hire
- WiFi - $95 per hire including 1GB of Data
- Linen Exchange - $50 per hire
- Portable fan Heater - $ 16 per hire
- Return Gas Empty - $30 - $50 per bottle

Road Users Surcharges:
The Road User Charge Recover Fee is included in the Express Return Pack.
If this Package is not selected the Road User Charge Recovery Fee will be calculated and collected on return of the
Campervan based on the kilometres travelled during the hire.
The vehicle rates per 100km are as follows:
- Jackpot, Deuce and Double Down $6.22

Rental Extension:
If the Hirer wishes to extend the rental
whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation
from Mighty. This is subject to availability. The
extra cost of an extended rental must be paid
by credit card on confirmation of the rental
extension.
Failure to obtain an authorisation for a rental
extension will result in a late fee of NZD $150 per day
in addition to the daily rental rate (plus Liability
Reduction charges) for each day until the vehicle
is returned. The daily rental rate charged will
be the rate applicable on the day of extension (which
may differ from the original rate booked) per Vehicle
for the extended rental period.
Location Fees:
An additional location fee of NZD $95 applies to all
campervans picked up or dropped off in Queenstown
(though if the pick up and drop off both occur in
Queenstown, only one location fee will apply). This is in
addition to the one-way fee if applicable.
One Way Rentals:
One-way rentals are available between all branch
locations.
The fees applicable to one-way rentals are as
follows:
- (a) Auckland to Christchurch or Queenstown
- 01 April 2017 and 30 September 2017 - a oneway
fee of NZD $100 applies
- 01 October 2017 and 31 March 2018 - a one-way
fee of NZD $250 applies.
- (b) Christchurch to Queenstown or vice versa .
- 01 April 2017 and 30 September 2017 - NZD $50 applies
- 01 October 2017 and 31 March 2018 - a one-way
fee of NZD $75 applies.
- (c) Christchurch or Queenstown to Auckland
- 01 October 2017 and 31 March 2018 - a one-way
fee of NZD $150 applies.
Multiple Rentals:
Should a Customer have more than one rental, the
bookings can be combined to qualify for longer-term
hire discounts. Mighty Campervan hire in Australia
and New Zealand can be combined to qualify if travel
is within a 3-month period.
Licence Requirement:
A current and full motor vehicle driver's licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language
other than English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver's licence was issued. An
accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. If the rented vehicle is
a Highball, Jackpot or Double Down; drivers must be 18 years of age or over.
An extra driver fee applies for each additional
driver's licence added to the rental agreement except
where The Bundle or the Mighty Inclusive Pack has
been purchased.
Road Restrictions:
Campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. Vehicles shall not be driven on:
- Skippers Road (Queenstown)
- Crown Range Road (Queenstown)
- Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook)
- Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
- North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula)
- All ski field access roads (from 01 June to 31 October)
- Mighty reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
Age Restrictions:
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over with the
exception of drivers hiring the Lowball, Highball
and Jackpot vehicles. These drivers may have a
minimum age of 18 years or over .
Use of The Vehicle:
The hirer agrees that, during the Rental
Period, the hirer not allow the Vehicle
to be:
- (a) driven otherwise than in a prudent and
cautious manner. A single Vehicle rollover is
considered a breach of this condition. A single
Vehicle rollover may include, but is not limited
to, a vehicle that has rolled, tipped or fallen over
and this has caused damage to the side and/
or roof area of the Vehicle. Customers who have
purchased The Almighty option will have the cost
of damage resulting from an accidental single
Vehicle rollover covered, providing no breach of
rental agreement;
- (b) driven by a person under the influence of
alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in
excess of that permitted by law;
- (c) left with the ignition key in the Vehicle while it
is unoccupied;
- (d) damaged by:
(i) submersion in water
(ii) contact with salt water
(iii) creek or river crossing
(iv) driving through flooded areas
(v) beach driving
- e) used for any illegal purpose or in any race,
rally or contest;
- (f) used to tow any vehicle or trailer;
- (g) used to carry passengers or property for hire
or reward;
- (h) used to carry more persons than is permitted
by any relevant authority or detailed in the
Vehicle manual or on the Vehicle or specified in
this Agreement;
- (i) used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives
or other corrosive or inflammable material; and
- (j) used for transporting and haulage of goods
other than what might be reasonably expected of
a leisure rental.
Road restrictions apply as follows:
(a) Mighty vehicles may only be driven on sealed/
bitumen or well-maintained roads.
(b) Vehicles are not permitted on Skippers
Road (Queenstown), the Crown Range Road
(Queenstown), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), Ninety
Mile Beach (Northland), North of Colville Township
(Coromandel Peninsula) and all ski field access
roads (from 01 June to 31 October).
The hirer is responsible for all damage if travelling
on these roads.
We value your well-being, and for safety
purposes, Mighty reserves the right, at its sole
discretion, to restrict Vehicle movements in certain
areas due to:
(a) adverse road or weather conditions
(b) the distance to nominated destinations in relation
to the length of the hire period; and
(c) any concerns Mighty, its employees or agents may
have regarding driver experience or ability.
Mighty will advise you on pick-up of any travel
restrictions known at that time. We strongly
recommend that you check for current road restrictions
and closures during your rental by visiting the
New Zealand Transport Authority's website at
www.nzta.govt.nz.
The hirer shall not make any alterations
or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written
consent of Mighty.
The hirer will not allow any animals to be
carried in the Vehicle, excluding registered guide dogs.
Mighty reserves the right to charge the hirer a
NZD $250 cleaning fee for any animal related cleaning.
The hirer shall take all reasonable steps to
properly maintain the Vehicle, including daily checks
of the oil, water and batteries, and will contact Mighty
immediately should vehicle warning lights indicate any
potential malfunction.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Mighty will reimburse customers for
expenditure up to NZD $200 reasonably incurred in
rectifying any mechanical failure to the drive train
and engine of the Vehicle. For repairs costing over
NZD $200, Mighty will need to be informed and confirm
the repair in advance. Repairs will be approved and
reimbursement, where applicable, will be granted
provided the Customer was not responsible for the
damage. In all cases, receipts must be submitted for
any repair or the claim will not be paid.
Unless the hirer has taken the Liability
Reduction Option, the hirer will pay for the cost of
repairing or replacing tyres damaged during the Rental
Period except if the tyre is defective and is returned by
the hirer to Mighty for inspection and is subject to
a warranty claim on the manufacturer.
On Road Asistance:
Mighty provides 24 hour on-road assistance
support.
Any problems associated with the Vehicle
including equipment failure, must be reported to
Mighty within 24 hours in order to give Mighty the
opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental.
Failure to do so may compromise any claims for
compensation.
Vehicle Availability:
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or
model, only by vehicle category.
Mighty will endeavour to supply the vehicle
category selected, however should the Vehicle
booked be unavailable, Mighty reserve the right
to substitute an alternative Vehicle without
prior notification. The alternative vehicle shall
be as close a substitute for the booked Vehicle
as possible. Mighty will reasonably determine
what, if any, refund may be warranted if a vehicle
substitution is required.
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser
Vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to
any refund.
For Your Protection:
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for
personal injury. Mighty does not accept any liability
for personal injuries sustained during the rental, nor for
any loss or damage to personal belongings or property
of the Customer (or any person or entity related to
the hirer). Mighty strongly recommends the
hirer takes out personal travel insurance to cover
any injury or loss.
Vehicle Liabilty :
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury. Mighty does not accept any liability for personal injuries sustained during the rental,
nor for any loss or damage to any personal belongings or property of the customer (or any person or entity related to the hirerr). Mighty strongly
recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out personal travel insurance.
In the USA a liability is referred to as the "deductible".
All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a third party. The customer is responsible for the first NZD $3,500 ("the liability") for
the Jackpot and the Double Down campervans and NZD $5,000 ("the liability") for all other campervans of cost of any damage to third party property or to the
rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident (does not include single vehicle roll over), windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft,
fire, break-in or vandalism with the exception of the 'Exclusions'. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is being repaired. In
addition to these costs, an administration fee of NZD $60 may apply, per claim. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental. The NZD $3,500 or NZD $5,000
liability can be reduced by purchasing the Liability Reduction Option or the Mighty Inclusive Pack.
Liabilty Reduction Option:
NZD $29 (maximum charge NZD $1,450) for the Jackpot and the Double Down NIL
NZD $39 (maximum charge NZD $1,950) for all other campervans NIL
When the Liability Reduction Option has been purchased, the hirer will have no liability at all with the exception of the 'exclusions'.
The maximum public liability is $20,000,000, sub limits may apply. Please note that the maximum public liability may change during the course of the
year for which these terms apply.
MIGHTY STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TAKE THE MIGHTY INCLUSIVE PACK FOR TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND
Liability Deposit:
If the Liability Reduction Option or the Mighty Inclusive Pack is not taken, the customer must pay the Liability Deposit. The Liability Deposit is NZD $3,500 or
NZD $5,000 and is applicable regardless if the hirer has purchased private travel insurance.
The hirer must provide a valid credit card to pay the Liability Deposit and the amount will be debited to the customer's credit card on the day of vehicle
collection. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Liability Deposit upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and
severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle. Any type of pre-paid travel card is not acceptable as a means to provide a Liability Deposit.
The Liability Deposit is subject to a 2% credit card administration fee in addition to the Liability Deposit amount when the credit card used is either a Visa or
MasterCard, or 4.6% when the credit card used is American Express. The credit card administration fees are subject to change.
The Liability Deposit is fully refundable, including the credit card surcharge, if the card used to provide the Liability Deposit is a Visa or MasterCard credit
card, provided the Vehicle is returned undamaged. Mighty recommend that customers use a Visa or MasterCard credit card for the Liability Deposit, as the
credit card administration fee that applies when using American Express is not refundable.
Exclusions:
The Liability Reduction Option will not apply and the customer is responsible for all costs arising out of, or incurred in connection with:
- 1. Any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) or driving under the influence of
alcohol or drugs, or negligence.
- 2. Any loss or damage to personal belongings or property of the customer (or any person or entity related to the customer). Mighty recommends
the customer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal travel insurance.
- 3. Any damage where the customer is charged by local authorities for being careless, showing gross negligence or wilfulness in failing to abide
by the local road rules.
- 4. Retrieving or recovering a vehicle, which may include, but is not limited to a vehicle that has become bogged, submerged, caught, trapped,
stuck or restricted in anyway and/or has been abandoned, in each case in circumstances within the control of the customer.
- 5. Replacing keys, which have been lost or stolen, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
- 6. Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle however caused, except where Liability Reduction Option or the Mighty Inclusive Pack has been
purchased.
- 7. Any single vehicle rollover except where the Mighty Inclusive Pack has been purchased.
- 8. Damage caused to the vehicle because total load (kg) has exceeded recommended load as stated in vehicle manual. Vehicles are not to be used
for the purpose of transporting and haulage of goods other than what might be reasonably expected of a leisure rental.
- 9. Damage caused by drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers whose licence has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers
who have a licence that is classified as a learners or probationary licence.
- 10. Any damage caused to the vehicle due to the use of snow chains.
- 11. Any damage associated with the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol), which includes Bio-Diesel which should not be used, or
water or other contamination of fuel.
- 12. Any water related damage which includes, but is not limited to, vehicle submersion, contact with salt water, creek or river crossings, driving
through flooded areas and beach driving.
- 13. The vehicle rented may only be used to carry the maximum number of passengers as dictated by the vehicle type. If more passengers are carried
than what is allowed Mighty does not accept any liability.
Credit Card Authority:
The hirer authorises Mighty to retain the details of their credit card and to take any action to recover from the credit card the amounts due by the
customer pursuant to the Mighty Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions. These charges including, but not limited to, vehicle cleaning (this includes toilet
and waste water tank emptying), speeding, toll way, parking or freedom camping fines, on road assistance, delivery and return of vehicle, late drop off fees,
failure to return the vehicle with full diesel or petrol tanks or full LPG bottle (pre-paid fuel and pre-paid gas is included in the Express Return Pack), rental
extensions or Exclusions. For security purposes, only the customer's credit card can be used for the Credit Card Authority.
Transfer:
Mighty provides free airport to branch and branch to airport transfers on the day of arrival and departure for our Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown
Branches.
Change of Vehicle:
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable, Mighty reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost.
This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
Voluntary Downgrade:
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.
Note: Mighty reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
Change of Drop Off Locations:
If the customer wishes to change the drop-off destination, they must first obtain authorisation from Mighty.
Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to NZD $750 may apply.
Toll and Traffic Offences:
Mighty reserves the right to charge the customer for any speeding, toll way, parking or freedom camping fines. In addition to the costs associated per fine,
an administration fee of NZD $60 may be applicable.
Rental
Charges:
Total charges as set out in your rental agreement
are not final. The Customer will pay any shortfall in
charges to Mighty and the Customer will receive
a refund for any overcharges made by Mighty.
Wherever possible, any amendment to charges will
be notified to the customer at conclusion of rental,
and the customer agrees to payment of any such
charges at that time.
Credit and Debit Card Payment:
The credit or debit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Accepted credit and debit cards are Visa Card, MasterCard and
American Express. A non-refundable 2% administration fee will apply to all Visa and MasterCard transactions or 4.6% for American Express. Credit card
administration fees also apply to the Liability Deposit and only the customer's credit card is acceptable to use for the purpose of the Liability Deposit
and the Credit Card Authority. The credit card administration fee is subject to change.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations:
All credit and debit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or bank transaction fees there could
be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Mighty does not accept liability for any such variation or any
interest incurred on such amounts.
Administration Fee:
A surcharge of 3% of the total cost will be levied
to cover state government taxes, duties, vehicle
registration recovery and administration costs. This
fee is included in the daily vehicle rental rate.
Booking Amendments:
All amendments to bookings are subject to availability of the vehicle and/or package. Different rates may apply based on the amendment made.

vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing pick-up dates and/or changing the pick-up or drop-off location. Where the number of rental

the original flex rate, which applied at the time of the original booking, will apply.
Cancellation Policy:
If a bookings travel dates are amended within the cancellation fee period to be outside of the cancellation fee period and is subsequently cancelled, the cancellation fee for the original booking will apply.
- If cancelled up to 91 days prior to pick-up No Fee
- If cancelled from 90 to 22 days prior to pick-up 10% of Rental
- If cancelled from 21 to 7 days prior to pick-up 30% of Gross Rental
- If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick-up 60% of Gross Rental
- If cancelled on day of pick up or No-Show 100% of Gross Rental
- If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever there is no refund available for the unused days.
Special Conditions:
For all rentals with a collection date between 01 June 2017 and 08 July 2017 the following special conditions apply:
- 10% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm bookings
- Full payment is required 90 days prior to pick up
Cancellation fees are:
- If cancelled up to 91 days prior to pick-up 10% of Rental
- If cancelled from 90 to 1 day prior to pick-up 100% of Rental
