2024 / 2025 New Zealand Flex Rates Valid from 01 November 2023 to 10 April 2025   Flex Rates allows us to offer flexible pricing, which gives you the opportunity to secure the best possible rental rate. The Flex Rates are based on a very simple system of supply and demand. So when there are a large number of vehicles available for hire from a particular branch then the rental rate is lower. This way you can benefit from the lower rates offered. Generally, this means that the earlier you book the cheaper the rate! There will also be great Standby Rates!

Short Term Specials:
To fill in gaps between rentals, we may at times be able to offer Short Term Specials. These may include unlimited kilometres or it may include a specific number of kms and in this case, any extra kms will be charged at NZD 0.60 per km.

From Auckland / Christchurch Airports to the McRent Depot / Station.

• Depot to Auckland Airport - Transfers up to 6 persons - Free
• Christchurch Airport to depot - Transfers up to 6 persons - Free
• Depot to Christchurch Airport - Transfers up to 6 persons - Free

Saturday Pick Up and Drop Off:
Pick up and Drop off on a Saturday is available - This service is included in the daily rates.
Depots are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Pick Up and Drop Off Times:
Please use these times as a guide only, as they may change slightly between depots.

Pick Up - Monday to Friday: 9am to 3.00pm
             - Saturday: 9am to 12:00pm

Drop Off - Monday to Friday: 9am to 3.00pm
             - Saturday: 9am to 11am

Festivals:
Please note that it is not generally allowed to travel to festivals with our rental vehicles.
Participation in festivals and other events is only permitted with the express consent of the Rental Company.

Late & Early Drop Offs:
If the vehicle is returned after the time that was agreed in writing, we charge NZD $50 for every extra hour or part of an hour (but not more than the total daily rate for every day late) and pass on any claims for compensation for damages that may be asserted by the next renter or another person due to a late receipt of the vehicle.If the vehicle is returned before the expiration of the agreed rental period - there is no refund for unused days unless the vehicle can be rented to another party.

Not Included:
Fuel and operating costs are to be borne by the renter. The vehicles are handed over with full fuel tanks and they are to be returned with full fuel tanks. Otherwise McRent charges NZD $2.50 per litre of diesel.
Road User Charge is collected at the time of drop off.

Road User Charge:
The Road User Recovery Fee will be invoiced to the customer after the rental based on the kilometres travelled during the hire. The current fee is NZD $0.09 for every kilometre travelled.
We reserve the right to amend the Road User Recovery Fee upon Government intervention.

One Way Rentals:
01 October to 31 March - Christchurch to Auckland - NZD $150
01 April to 30 September - Christchurch to Auckland - FREE
01 October to 31 March - Auckland to Christchurch - NZD $250
01 April to 30 September - Auckland to Christchurch - NZD $100

Drivers Age / Licence / Weight of Vehicle:
Minimum age is 25 years, and must have held a full drivers licence for a minimum of 2 years (restricted licences are not accepted) before rental. No maximum age. For the Premium range - you are required to hold a licence that allows you to drive a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes. Please check vehicle weight and your licence. Additional driver is Free.

Security Deposit / Refundable Bond:
The security deposit of NZD $ 7,500 must be paid at the start of a rental.

Excess reduction options include:
CDW Insurance Option 1 - NZD $39 per day to reduce the excess to NZD $1,000 per damage. *
CDW Insurance Option 2 - NZD $69 per day to reduce the excess to NZD $500 per damage * RUC & AdBlue included.
CDW Insurance Option 3 - NZD $89 per day to reduce the excess to NZD $0 - NIL per damage *  RUC (Road User Charge), AdBlue, Camping Table, Camping Chairs for all pax, WiFi and Child / Booster Seats (if required) included - No deposit at Pick-Up required.

* Limited for the first collision only. Applies only in case of accident. Deductible for any following collisions is NZD $7,500 per claim.

Please note: For rentals up to 30 days - the security deposit will be blocked not deducted from the credit card. For rentals of more then 30 days, the security deposit will continued to be deducted from the credit card.

Liability and Comprehensive Insurance Protection:
The renter bears the costs of any damage that occurs during the rental period while using the vehicle in accordance with the contract up to NZD $7,500 per case of damage.

If the damage is caused by intent or gross negligence, especially if the renter was unable to drive due to the consumption of drugs or alcohol, the liability limitation does not apply. The same applies to any damage caused by not observing traffic sign 265 (maximum vehicle height on a road). Despite the agreed limitation of liability, the renter is moreover fully liable for any damage caused by failure to observe the vehicle dimensions (vehicle height and width), by improper loading and unloading and by the load or by driving backwards without being directed. The renter is liable for any damages claimed by a third party against him/her or against McRent that the renter has caused to a third party during the use of the object of rental.

The renter is liable for all fees, levies, fines, and punishments that are imposed on the lessor in connection with the use of the vehicle unless they are caused by fault of the lessor.

There are two liability reduction options available.
CDW Insurance Option 1 - NZD $39 per day to reduce the excess to NZD $1,000 per damage. *

Awning:
An awning is affixed to all McRent motorhomes in New Zealand, but the handle to operate it is not included unless requested. Please be aware that awning damages are not covered by our insurance and a NZD $2,000 liability applies outside of the standard security deposit to cover any damages found at the end of hire.

Authorised Drivers:
The vehicle may only be driven by the renter himself / herself and by the drivers specified in the rental contract.

Visa New Zealand:
We would like to inform you that all customers from visa waiver countries, who travel to New Zealand on or after 1st October 2019, must apply for an eTA before they leave.

Substitute Vehicle:
In case the reserved vehicle cannot be made available at the rental station, the lessor reserves the right to provide a vehicle that is comparable in size and equipment or bigger. That will not cause any additional rental costs for the renter. If a smaller vehicle is offered and accepted by the renter, the price difference of both vehicles is reimbursed. If the provision of a bigger vehicle causes higher ancillary costs, such as ferry charges and tolls or operating costs, such costs are to be borne by the renter.

Public Holidays for New Zealand:

Shortening of Rental Period:
If a renter shortens their hire period by more than a week - it may be treated as a cancellation of the whole booking and a re-booking. This depends on when the amendment takes place and how many days of hire are being cancelled. Please ensure you always have travel insurance in place.

Amendments:
The Hirer may request free date amendments to a confirmed booking up to 40 days prior to the date of the agreed commencement of the rental period subject to the Rental Company having alternative capacityand booking dates available.

The rental rates are based on the current price list valid at the time of the change, unless the hire rate for the alternative dates decreases, in which case the original rental rate will apply. Amendments within 30 days prior to commencement of the rental period are treated as per the following cancellation terms.

Cancellation Fees:

• - Up to 40 days before beginning of rental 30% with a minimum of NZD $500 of rental price
• - Between 29 to 7 days before beginning of rental 50% of rental price
• - Less than 7 days before beginning of rental 100% of rental price
• - At rental day / day of pick up or by no show 100% of rental price
• We also charge a nominal handling fee
• Travel insurance can cover cancellation fees under certain circumstances.
